This spiced apple juice not only makes a great holiday drink but is also effective at fighting off colds and flu! I served this recently at a Christmas open house and as promised, here is the recipe!
Ingredients:
- One 2.84 litre jug of organic apple juice. (I used Santa Cruz)
- 3 thumb sized pieces of fresh turmeric root, (grated finely or if juiced about 1/8 cup)
- a 3 inch piece of fresh ginger root (grated finely or if juiced about 1/4 cup)
- 1/2 tsp. of red chili flakes or more to taste!
- 2 true cinnamon sticks
- a crack or two of freshly ground pepper
Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 10 min. or so. If you grated your roots as opposed to juicing them, strain before serving! Serve with a stick of cinnamon.
